KBMS extends and expands management’s capacity to control operations across the supply chain in real time. An hierarchy of cost and profit centers permit close monitoring of operations at high levels of detail. In addition to financial information, management can perform its controlling function at the detailed level using tools for controlling quantities, ratios, document flows, transactions and processes within and across time segments. It can trace the sources of variances by drilling down hierarchies of data and set in place the appropriate policies for detecting and managing variations. A key feature of the solution is the reduction of lags between the detection of a variation and the formulation of a response.
